Gospel singing legend is the first thing that comes to many people’s mind when they hear the name Andrae Crouch. Why? Well, because Crouch is not only a gospel singer, but a songwriter, arranger, recording artist, record producer and pastor as well. Perhaps the many hats that he wears are beginning to take toll. The faith leader was rushed to the hospital on Sunday after falling ill in his shower at his Los Angeles home, as reported by TMZ.
Crouch, who has been nominated eight different times for a Grammy Award, was taking a shower when he suddenly fell ill due to an immense heat he was feeling. He immediately yelled for his twin sister and assistant who quickly came to his side as the singer began to feel light-headed. Crouch suffers from diabetes.
Upon arrival of the ambulance which was summoned, Crouch was transported to a local hospital, where he stayed there for several hours. He was eventually told by doctors that he was “OK” to return home.
Crouch told TMZ that “diabetes is no fun,” and also said that the disease had a great deal to do with his being overcome by heat in the shower. He said that he now feels back to normal.
Crouch who is best known for his songs “Soon and Very Soon:” and “My Tribute (To God Be the Glory)” is not married and has no children. He said that he is very grateful to TMZ for their interest in his story.
“Thanks to all my fans for all your prayers and support,” he said.
Crouch played a major role in the Jesus Music movement of the 1960s and 1970s. It was so major that he was able to help usher in contemporary Christian music and destroy the barriers between black and white Christian music.
Get well soon, Pastor.
