Heroic Miami Father Dies While Attempting To Protect His Young Daughter From Armed Intruders

A family in Miami, Florida is grieving over an awful loss after a home invasion turned fatal.
Just before midnight on Wednesday, 36-year-old Maurice Harris (pictured) was shot during a struggle with two armed intruders. Two assailants broke into his home demanding money and valuables. Harris was in the home with his wife Shekila and his 11-year-old daughter. When the suspects attempted to go in the room of Harris’ daughter, he physically attacked one of the intruders.
As Harris wrestled with one of the suspects, (who had a gun) he was shot. The suspects then fled the home after Harris was hit. He was rushed to a local hospital but eventually succumbed to his wound. Shekila Stewart, Harris’ wife of 16 years spoke with local news station CBS4 about the murder of her husband. Tearful and deeply saddened, Stewart said:
“He was my husband of 16 years. He loved me and the kids. He meant everything to me. I never thought he was going to die. If anyone knows something, please come forward. He didn’t deserve this. It would meant so much to me and my kids if they find whoever did this.” (CBS4, Miami)
Sgt. Confessor Gonzalez of the Miami Police Department told CBS4 that there was no sign of forced entry into Harris and his wife’s home. Gonzalez said:
“It’s a shame. This is a senseless death. He was clearly targeted. The motive was clear. This was a robbery in the sanctity of their home. They were specifically looking for cash. They knew there was cash in the house. And they were willing to kill for cash. This was a man who legitimately was trying to protect his daughter.” (CBS4, Miami)

He had to know these murderers, since it wasn’t a forced entry!
I hope it was not a drug hit because with all that gold in his mouth, it appears he ‘MAY’ have been in the game, especially if they knew he had money in his house. I’m not saying this is the cause of him being murdered, but normally these drug hits usually end up this way!
Anyway, he was trying to protect his child, and he’s a hero for trying to protect her. I hope no foul play was involved because this story is still on shakey ground.
I knew a man, who went to work EVERYDAY, went to church, took care of his family, and song in a xtian group, BUT he was dealing drugs. He owed the drug boys some money, and they came to his house and killed him. No one has been found in his murder because it was a drug hit!

Derrick, the report says they broke in. Dont judge him by his appearance. Aint that what we’ve been saying to other races? I too wish he had a firearm to defend himself and his family.
The report says they broke in, however the Sgt also reported that there was no sign of forced entry. This being the case, it implies that he was targeted specifically or he might have known them.
My hope is that there is something that is done in terms of finding out the situation.
