Rapper Causes Stir by Showing Jesus as Gang Member on Album Cover
Rapper, Jayceon “Game” Taylor, has caused a stir with his latest album cover which depicts Jesus Christ as the member of a specific gang.
The album, “Jesus Piece” has artwork, on the front of the cover, that shows Jesus Christ wearing a big gold chain and a red bandana, just like the red bandana that the gang members of the Bloods street gang wear. Jesus also has a teardrop tattooed on his face. The “s” in the album title is a “5″, a number that is also known as a symbol of the Bloods gang. There are also marijuana leaves on the cover.
When asked about the album cover, Game said,
“I’m calling [my new album] ‘Jesus Piece’ ’cause last year in August I got baptized and so I’ve been going to church, but I still been kinda doing me out here. I still love the strip club and I still smoke and drink. I’m faithful to my family, so I wanted to make an album where you could love God and be of God, but still get it poppin’ in your life.”
Other rappers seem to like the cover. In a Twitter post, rapper Busta Rhymes said,
“This artwork is Brilliant!!!”
Adam Holz, one of the editors at Focus on the Family (a Christian organization), said that the album cover did not surprise him at all. He said,
“Rap artists frequently want to appropriate Jesus and Christianity, even if they’re singing and rapping about killing people, or s****l exploits or using marijuana. So it’s not surprising to see a fairly significant rapper doing exactly that, that he doesn’t see any conflict at all between the teachings of Jesus and a rap lifestyle that is a long ways from what Jesus taught.”
Holz also said that he believes that Christians should pray for artists like Game who say that they are Christians but accept things that go against the teachings.
The rapper, Game, was baptized at a church in California last year and claims that his latest album was his way of giving a voice to those who “love God but are still street and wanna remain themselves.”
The album is scheduled to be released on Dec. 11.

Why is it they charaterize this image as being Jesus and yet, no one on this earth has ever seen him nor know what he looked like?
This is just another example of how Black folks are endoctrinated into thinking like the Masta!!!
How then can anyone in this country or around the world attribute anything they simply know not!!!?

Jesus and GOD are 2 seperate entity. Jeseus is begotten not GOD. This. Rapper wanted a little hype before his albums sells. How long have a book keeps us in boundage and slavery. I believe in GOD
I respect artist creativity but…..there such A THING AS RESPECT. I don’t believe Jesus was a mudering gang banger, much like the POS who killed my nephew….and I believe all of us are work in progress and no one is christin but aspire every day to be one. There is nothing positive about being a gang banger so why dipict Jesus as one when he represent positivity and spirtiual growth?
