Meagan Good’s Husband, DeVon Franklin To Oversee Urban, Faith-Based Films
2012 is shaping up to be a remarkable year for DeVon Franklin. The Sony executive and Preacher recently married the love of his life, actress Meagan Good. He also appeared on an episode of Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul Sunday and now he has just been promoted to senior VP of production at Columbia Pictures.
In his new position, Franklin will scout and oversee the production of commercial material that targets urban markets and also markets that are faith based. Franklin, who is an executive at Sony, will work with all the divisions in Sony Pictures that are film based.
In his new role, Franklin’s first project will be a movie adaptation of “Heaven Is for Real,” a New York Times bestseller by Todd Burpo.
Franklin’s promotion comes after much success overseeing movie hits such as “The Karate Kid” and “Jumping the Broom,” as well as the upcoming movie that many are excited about, “Sparkle,” starring the late Whitney Houston and American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks.
Franklin was also involved with other popular movies starring Will Smith, including, “The Pursuit of Happyness,” “Hancock” and “Seven Pounds.”
Doug Belgrad, an executive at Sony that Franklin reports to, spoke highly of Franklin saying:
”DeVon has been a huge contributor to our development and production team since joining the studio in 2005. We are proud to recognize his achievements with this promotion. DeVon is positioned to capitalize on his unique skill set, experience and relationships and will further define Sony as an industry leader in telling stories for a diverse audience. His focus will complement the outstanding work being done by the Screen Gems and Affirm Films divisions.”
Franklin is an ordained minister and published author. He began his career at Overbrook Entertainment as an intern.

Goodie for him!!! Faith….is something for all believers to aspire to achieve and it is not by producing or marketing films. Assimilation is not proof of faith….and what is never considered by most people of color, everyone is not of the Christian faith.
I am happy to note however, there are those wh profess the institution of marriage, but if we were to ask the question….did you ever have pre-marital s*x, can you guess what the answer would be?
So let’s stop putting the spin on folks who have entered an industry of exploitation and get with the realities of what is the actual TRUTH!
