Meagan Good Talks About Life as Pastor’s Wife; Says She Was Told She Was ‘a little bit too sexy’

Meagan Good’s star is shining bright lately, with her recent lead role in the movie “Think Like a Man” and her recent nuptials to Seventh-day Adventist pastor and  Sony Pictures executive, DeVon Franklin.

According to Upscale magazine the actress shared, in a interview, that she felt like she was being stereotyped because some of the roles she has played have been promiscuous.

The 30 year old spoke about wanting to show movie directors other aspects of her acting skills that did not have to include s*x appeal.

Good says that she has had auditions where a director told her ‘We really like you, but you’re a little bit too sexy,’ and that even if she tried to dress differently it would not help because it’s just something that she “gives off”.

The actress does not necesarily agree with the directors, saying,

”I believe that people, when they have a preconceived notion of who you are, and things you’ve done in the past, sometimes they forget that as an actor you’re able to shut off whatever you need to shut off, and you’re able to turn on whatever you need to turn on.”

Even though, Good has to listen to directors and others tell her what they think of her and what she is capable of as an actress, she still firmly believes that it’s important for her to define herself and what power means to her.

She defines it as:

“…being able to move, and live, and do the things that you aspire to do and that you believe are part of your purpose to do, without letting other people’s opinions or judgements manipulate your direction, without getting discouraged when a door closes, and just kinda having a good sense of self, and knowing who you are, and being strong in your walk with God. All of that, to me, is what power is.”

The actress is currently working on filming for “Infamous,” the new series on NBC that she will be starring in. She shares that she has had to adjust to being a pastors wife, saying that she has noticed that people tend to sensationalize her life more in that role.

Good claims that the most appealing thing about her husband is that he “loves the Lord”.

  1. Good luck your job is your job don’t care what ppl think of you . As long as you are happy that’s all that matters . Bc ppl will talk no matter what . Love u my sister

    • It has nothing whatsoever to do with being black but everything to do with being a child of God. Whilst we cannot live our life to please people we can and should live it to please God and the way that we know what pleases God is to study His Word and live by it. 1 John2 15-17. being sexy means to arouse s****l desire, is that really what we should be doing? The only person we should seek to arouse is our spouse. When someone dresses in a provocative way it naturally appeals to the physical and if that person is not your husband or wife can lead to s****l sin. Look attractive, dress well take care of your appearance but to look or behave in a sexually provocative way goes against all the teachings in scripture

      • I BELIVE THAT BEING SEXY AND s*x APPEAL ARE 2 DIFF THINGS. SHE HAS THAT, s*x APPEAL. NO MATTER WHAT SHE WEARS, SHE WILL HAVE THAT s*x APPEAL REGARDLESS. AND, IF YOU READ WHAT SHE SAID, THE ISSUE WAS NOT HOW SHE DRESSED. REGARDLESS OF WHAT SHE DRESS IN SHE WILL HAVE A CERTAIN s*x APPEAL. AND, BY THE WAY, GOD SAID NOTHING ABOUT A WOMEN NOT BEING SEXY. THAT IS THE BRAINWASHED RELIGIOUS c**p YOU LET “MASTA” OOPS!!! I MEAN “PASTA AND NEM TELL YOU. IF THAT IS A PART OF YOU IT IS A PART OF YOU. KEEP GOING MEGHAN. I HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOU WITH MY CHILDREN SINCE YOU WERE ON NICKELODEAN AND YOU ARE A POSITIVE ROLE MODEL.

  2. She is a ‘beautiful’ hot lady. She could never be ‘too’ sexy, but we must understand who the people are she’s hearing that from and understand that they cater to “whites” especially. African-Americans, “blacks”, have a difficult time getting good acting roles as a whole. The white population rarely want to see tv or movies with blacks holding the starring roles unless it is slapstick comedy or blacks are portrayed as prostitutes, or criminals etc. Never forget. We live in ‘America’ black people! I have been around for a long time, and I can still watch almost every channel on regular television and see very few African Americans, and rarely any with a starring role in serious material. Lately I’ve seen one or two decent shows with a black in a starring position, but they generally don’t run but one or two seasons! The best we can hope for is a shock to the system some fifty years from now. That is if we aren’t set-upon by whites before then! The media is dominated by whites/Jews, and owned by whites/Jews and for the most part they want to keep us portrayed as the worst problem in their world! What’s worse, they want us to blame ourselves for what they continue to do to us!

    • very well said. now all we need is a big chunk of the black populace to think act and believe that this is is so.

      • Are you seriously trying to make this a black and white debate, it is clearly about God’s standard of holiness versus the world’s definition of sexy. When God told Israel to be holy in Leviticus 11 and 19, He was instructing them to be distinct from the other nations by giving them specific regulations to govern their lives. Israel is God’s chosen nation and God has set them apart from all other people groups. They are His special people, and consequently they were given standards that God wanted them to live by so the world would know they belonged to Him. When Peter repeats the Lord’s words in 1 Peter 1:16, he is talking specifically to believers. As believers, we need to be “set apart” from the world unto the Lord. We need to be living by God’s standards, not the world’s. God isn’t calling us to be perfect, but to be distinct from the world. First Peter 2:9 describes believers as “a holy nation.” It is a fact! We are separated from the world; we need to live out that reality in our day-to-day lives, which Peter tells us how to do in 1 Peter 1:13-16.. The dictionary definition of sexy means to arouse sexually. If a person deliberately tries to stir up s****l feelings in someone that is not their spouse it is sin plain and simple. We are not debating whether we should look good and take care of our appearance and if someone thinks you are sexy that is up to them but to deliberately dress and behave in a way to stir up s****l feelings or l**t is wrong in God’s sight.

  3. Meagan Good-Franklin needs to stop lying to herself and be honest. For years there’s been pictures of her away from her job as an actress in her regular life you would see pictures of her looking like the characters she played in movies. If everytime you’re seen in fishnet stocking and knee high boots and short shorts why would any director give you any other roles on t.v. Note also since she started dating and now married with the Executive she was all of the sudden given more respectable roles. As a woman myself I know if I make sure the people I roll with are respectable and I carry myself in a respectable way I will be treated in a respectable way. In high school I carried myself a certain way and the boys never disrespected me, college and now in my professional life same thing. So Meagan stop lying and be real. There are too many pictures of you on the net. Now that you have a clean start move foreward in a better light and hang with respectable company. I’m happy for you and many blessings to you.

  4. I don’t know this woman but I do know that as a Christian modesty is Biblical, it doesn’t mean you have to go around wearing a sack in fact I totally believe Christians should look good. Megan is a very beautiful woman but she doesn’t need to dress the way she does and then say that she is being stereotyped. The Bible guides us in how to think and speak and behave that we shouldn’t be conformed to this world. It is hard to be a born again Christian in an industry that is purely focussed on s*x,money, fame and power. I believe Christian women whether black or white should present themselves well but there is a line, as much as I like an outfit I need to consider whether it is appropriate for me to wear it I can adopt an attitude that says I don’t care what you say or think but that is not Biblical. Some things are just for my husband’s pleasure and I don’t need to walk around half naked in public to try and get attention and convince people that I am hot and sexy…the attention that I want is my husband’s,

  5. (Please read all the Scriptures)

How very disappointing! Why for the love of money! Pleasures, and self, (2Timothy 3:1-5) Does this woman want to cause people to sin!

Yes she is attractive but why is this “PASTOR’S WIFE” purposely causing men and women to sin? If she can confidently say that JESUS, who desires that all men be saved and live onto GOD in all purity does not mind her tempting people by being explicit then…….. Sigh (Mark 9:42-50) (John3:16-21)

Church we need to weep! (Philippians 3:17-21) How on earth can this even be associated with us, witH JESUS?. Please to those that read this article and are confused, don’t be. This is not of the LORD, it is the world, of satan. Read GOD’S word daily and you must offer yourself as a living sacrifice. Please listen to me! What you are reading about this actress is not of GOD……! Be very careful how you live and the things you listen to and watch. (Colossians 3:17)

GOD’S Will be done and HIS Kingdom come!
    GOD Bless

  6. Let Gods word be true

  7. IMO, Meagan Good-Franklin has not turned in a solid acting performance since hr role in Eve’s Bayou. I loved that movie, enjoyed her performance, and frankly expected more from her.
