Widower Pastor Marvin Sapp to star in ‘Single Dad’ Reality Show
Marvin Sapp is in the process of joining the reality television world. The 45 year old pastor and gospel singer is said to be doing the behind the scenes work for a reality show.
The reality show will give viewers a peep into the the widower and his three children’s lives. Two years ago, Sapp lost his wife to cancer and he has since been a single father. The series, “Marvin Sapp: Single Dad.” will showcase the gospel singer going about his daily routine as a single father.
According to Eurweb.com, the pastor says he misses his wife, Malinda Sapp, who lost her battle with colon cancer in 2010. Says the gospel singer:
“There are days when I get up and I cry, thinking of her. There are days thinking of her and I smile…There are days when I’m angry. Days that I’m not… we miss her.”
Marvin Sapp and Malinda Sapp headed the Lighthouse Full Life Center Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan right until her death in 2010. In spite of the sad circumstance of his life, Sapp will share his life story, with the world in the reality show, which has already started filming.
The show will be produced by Open River Pictures and it is still scouting for a network.
Tammy Williams, CEO of Open Rivers Pictures has been vocal about the importance of viewers seeing an African America family with an African American man as the head of the household, saying:
”I count it a privilege and an honor that Marvin entrusted my company to document the second chapter of his and his kids, ML, MiKalia and Madisson’s life. I think it is timely that the country sees a man, especially an African-American man, who is serious about family values and raising his children.”
In an interview with EEW Magazine, Sapp spoke about the show saying:
”This is about a family man who really believes in family teaching his children core values along with trying to manage a successful business and a career as well…God’s good, so I am just going to keep it moving.”

Marvin Sapp is Warren Sapp the Raiders NFL football player’s brother. It makes sense that he would make money from something, anything in the media. The loss of his beloved wife is sad, but the reasons behind his making a show are questionable, and the insight African Americans may gain from this, another reality show, are also questionable. There is a certain segment of “blacks” who may gain something from this, but the millions of blacks skidding down the ‘American’ (Wealthy-generated) “black hole” of poverty, despair, and psychotic desperation will have little use for it! The upside is that Mr. Sapp will make(more) money for his family, so that is the one positives that some may see. Maybe even the football fans will enjoy seeing his brother show up at his “home” for what will surely be a scripted show!

Reneegede, have you lost your mind? Did you not read that his wife died of cancer two years ago and he’s still in the process of picking up the pieces and taking care of his three children. Show some respect.
Please Pastor Sapp, don’t do it. Leave that medium to all the hordes and lunatics that crave the attention that satanic medium provides. You are too good a man to be in reality TV. It will suck the life out of you. Please avoid that.

Mr. Hawkins Jr. I agree with your wholeheartedly. This is a trap. Your private life needs to remain just that. While I understand that the world needs to see an African American man serious about family values, the sad truth is that the world will not be looking at this show. It will not get national or international attention. As a pastor Sapp will need to be showing Christian values and decency and that is not what reality television is designed for. As we can see with the Mary Mary reality television show. Drama and attitudes and scripted conversations. Nobody but nosy church folk will want to see these shows so that effort of displaying the great black father will be missed totally.

I understand his pain, anger and frustration. I lost my wife to Breast Cancer April 24th of this year, we have two young sons ages 7 and 5, the hurt is sometimes unbearable.

I don’t feel that this is something that a minister or pastor should get involved in. They need to be doing the Lords work that he has called them to do and that is to go out into the Highways, byways, the streets and preach to the people about Jesus Christ and not be on a TV reality show trying to act. If he is really doing God’s work he will not have any time to be doing a reality TV show, we have enought of those types of shows. We have young boys and girls who have not mothers or fathers and need mentoring, there are older men and women who are homeless and sick who need prayer visit from God’s chosen servant.(the Preacher) There is a place and a purpose for everything and I just don’t think that this is one of them. Stay prayerful REV.

Marvin, I’m HAPPY u r doing this. People like myself need GOOD TV! Yor story is inspiring yet tragic. So many of us need 2 b encouraged & uplifted. Understanding that regardless of life’s tragedies, we can depend on GOD 2 get us thru it all!!! I’ll b watching! I have been praying 4 u & the children since yor beloved passed away.
