24 Year Old Woman Dies After Planned Parenthood Abortion
Tonya Reaves has died after getting an abortion at a Chicago Planned Parenthood and her family members are demanding answers. Reaves passed away on Friday night and her death is being reported to have been caused by a hemorrhage resulting from the pregnancy and complications during the procedure.
Although Reaves’ death is being ruled an accident, her twin sister and her family are asking question about how she could have tragically died.
Reaves’ who has left behind a grieving fiance and a one year old son, was under treatment at the Michigan Avenue Planned Parenthood which involved a cervical dilation and evacuation procedure. This kind of procedure is usually used in women who have abortions in the second trimester of their pregnancies.
Planned Parenthood has issued an apology but have also stated that they can not comment further or answer any questions to preserve their patients’ privacy.
Carole Brite, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Illinois, stated:
“We were shocked and saddened upon learning of a tragic development at a nearby hospital…’While legal abortion services in the United States have a very high safety record, a tragedy such as this is devastating to loved ones and we offer our deepest sympathies.”
Brite also spoke about the privacy obligations of the organization saying:
“‘Planned Parenthood of Illinois cares deeply about the health and safety of each and every patient. We do not publicly discuss private patient matters and we follow HIPAA laws that forbid the disclosure of patient information.”
Pro-life organizations are also speaking out about the death of Reaves. Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue and Pro-Life Nation, spoke to the Christian Post on Sunday saying that deaths like Reaves’ were avoidable. He went on to say:
“When a woman bleeds to death after an abortion, it is usually an indication of error on the part of the abortionist coupled with a delay in calling for emergency assistance…’In light of this tragedy (Tonya Reaves), which is yet another in a long list of Planned Parenthood abuses, we call on President Obama to immediately withdraw all Federal funding and personal support from Planned Parenthood.”
Unless the family of the deceased gives updates of what further investigations reveal, it will be difficult to get more information because of the privacy rights of the patient cited by Planned Parenthood.

@Pamela That is speculation. Who is to say that she wouldn’t of died during child birth if she didn’t have the abortion? You bleed a lot after giving birth. I recently had a child and lost consciousness because of blood lost, I had to have 6 pints of blood transfused. I could of easily died!!! Regardless of the fact she lost her life. R.I.P.
I suspect that you were in a hospital giving birth when you received your 6 pints of blood. The hospital was probably prepared to handle all manner of emergency situation that might risk the life of you or your baby.
This woman was in a Planned Parenthood clinic. I have not seen this particular facility, but by today’s standards, many Planned Parenthood clinics are very primitive facilities that are better equipped for terminating lives than saving them.
Again, I don’t know the situation at this Chicago facility, but at some abortion clinics, the people terminating pregnancies are not even OB-GYNs. Or, like in the case of the Jackson Mississippi abortion clinic, the abortionists do not qualify for admitting privileges at any local hospitals. So when there are complications like what happened to this woman in Chicago, the abortionists often do not have the skills or resources to provide the necessary care.
Now you have two dead human beings. The Baby and the mother. After aborting over 18 million black babies what more can be accomplished? Extinction.

I feel that the abortion was a wrongful act and in any consent under going a surgical procedure it states possible death, but at the same time the procedure should not have caused a death. When getting a abortion you never know who this person is performing the procedure it could be a student a licence physician or a person trained off the street. Because of a procedure like this you never know how trained that person is.

Abortion is the No 1 cause of death amongst Blacks and black African-Americans. Conservative figures between 1973 to 2005 over 18 million black babies were murdered in the womb. That is over half of the population of this particular ethnic group residing in the United States. 18 Million ain’t no joke and I ask people to do the research themselves. Centers for Disease Control and another agency do a good job of keeping track of who is getting abortions. And low and behold it is said that Planned Parenhood is now located in black African Countries, like Zambia, protesting their Parliament’s decision to declare that life begins at conception in their new Constitution. Planned Parenthood, they say, shows up under the disguise of Women’s Health and safety and other emotional scenarios.

Don, African Americans make up 14% of the US population.
African American females are approximately 7.5% of that number. And those of child-bearing age reduces that number sugnificantly. Why are the percentages so high in the African American community? Do we care? 94% of the 7500 plus black killed were killed by other blacks. Why?

I do not like abortion but sometimes you must think. You do not know the reason behind her abortion. We all know you have to live with that but she or anyone that makes this decision must take that up with God and ask for “HIS” forgiveness. Had she been diagnosed with a medical condition where aborting the fetus was a rational option presented to her by a physician, the abortion would have been performed at a hospital. Physicians do not refer patients to Planned Parenthood.
MiMi, you are correct. A patient is never sent to Planned Parenthood for medical reasons of that nature. The greatest benefit we will have now, is to pray for those who are left behind and be a voice to those who are still here and open to making choices that are wise and lends to a long life. One of my greatest suggestions is to learn the background of planned parenthood and why it was greatest to destroy the minority race, African Americans in particular (great resource video, MAAFA 21). Also, to know the heart of our Heavenly Father who hates abortion and leads us in righteousness through the sacrifice and love of His Dear Son, Jesus. Along with that, I am excited to know God is merciful and forgiving to those who have made a wrong decision and He bring restoration. May those devastated by abortion receive His love and restoration and follow repentance and be released to live the life He has predestined. I was a nurse for many years, in school they taught us about the horrors women went through before abortion was legal Sepsis, hemmorage, (sp), uterine injuries…Why did this young woman die? We can not judge only God can truly say if her losing her life was a consequence of her aborting the child. Two lives are no longer here, and a family is in mourning!

People should realize that when they choose to have an abortion as opposed to having a full term pregnancy that they are in violation of what the bible says on this matter accordlinly the true God saw the psalmist David as an embryo and this was presious in his eyesight and yet people seem to beleive that an embryo is not a life well it is and I feel sorry that she lost her life but we as humans often suffer the consequences of our actions when we violate bible principles and laws
God is her only judge not us. Whatever her reason was for the abortion she must talk to God about that. I mean she already had a 1 year old son. Who is to say that it was a health reason she got the abortion. Things like this happen. I am against abortion but like i said things happen. Some women just get it because they either do not want or not ready for kids and I do not like that. If you are not ready for kids or do not want the blessings you need to be more safer or stop. Like I said they must take that up with God. In some cases pregnancy can be life threatening to some women and I know this for a fact. My aunt first pregnancy her body wouldn’t hold the child and since then to today she can not have children. Also another example my best friend who was raped at a young age and became pregnant. She had no chose but to abort the baby because her body wasn’t ready. Today she is married and has tried to have kids but due to the rape she has lost every last one of her babies.
Well, I work as a Doula in the Midwifery department, and you should see the many reasons women come in or consider abortion.
When I would become with child, the nurse or doctor would say what are you going to do? I asked them what did they mean. They would say are you going to continue with the pregnancy or terminate it.
My choice was to keep my child! How can you choose not?
My work is to assist the woman going through labor to bring in a beautiful new life but there are many times, spontaneous abortion (naturally happening).
As for those who choose it, often the reasons are thus: The boyfriend or husband does not want to have one right now. The husband or boyfriend complains of not having enough money to support the new child and is trying to establish their career, the birth control did not work or the condom broke, the man contends that the woman tricked them, they have too many already don’t want anymore (tube tying), the tubes unraveled, cannot afford the child and pay rent etc.
In many cases their were African men in Boston, MA, who did not want children with African American women and they were mandating the women to have abortions, using excuses like, they have not finished college yet or their families will not approve of the child because of the out of wedlock or out of tribe relationship.
Most of the time it is about money and not having a proper living situation or worrying about what others will say about it.
Have your children people if you become expectant, God with your effort shall provide!
The African American women you speak of in Boston are Haitians, Dominicans, Cape Verdians, Black Puerto Ricans, Jamaicans, etc, etc, etc. Many are recent immigrants and others are immigrants going back almost a centuy. They pretty much outnumber the ‘native’ African American women.

My heart is sad for the parents, siblings and other family members on this great lost of a family member. It does not matter if she was getting an abortion or have her heart valve replace she expired and questions need to be answer for her family to heal and move forward.

I think the issue here is that a young woman lost her life, a child lost his mother and a mother lost her child! Im so glad that myself and my then girlfriend made the right decision. As a result, our daughter made 18 in June of this year. If we went along with the planned abortion, I would have regreted it for the rest of my life. I mean I am not God and I no no right to take a life. I love my daughter very very much and she turned out to be a beautiful, smart, educated young African-American woman.

Not to judge is full of c**p! There are hundreds of courts in this land with juries that judge, is that wrong? There are scores of shows like american idol and beauty contests which judge, is that wrong? Why do so many Black females in this country commit sanctioned murder is the question? This story breaks my heart. This beautiful young woman was having s*x outside of marriage, gets preagnant, when there are many things to use not to even get preagnant.
