An official with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference says that police were wrong to arrest Pastor Creflo Dollar. Pastor Dollar was arrested recently after being accused of attacking his 15-year old daughter.
“I think it’s been exaggerated because of who is it,” the Rev. Samuel Mosteller, president of the SCLC’s Georgia chapter, said during a press conference. “If it was a normal family I don’t think there would’ve been an arrest at all.”
Mosteller said that because of Creflo’s arrest, parents “may be hesitant to discipline the child and the child may be more likely to involve police.”
“We believe the parent was exercising his parental responsibility, as all children cannot be allowed to leave the home when they are underage,” Mosteller said.
Dollar’s daughter said that her father punched and choked her during an argument about a party. His 19-year old daughter, Alexandria, corroborated her sister’s version of events, stating that her father, “put both hands around her sister’s neck and choked her for about five seconds.”
She then said that the pastor took his hands off his daughter’s neck, grabbed her shoulders and slapped her in the face.
Pastor Dollar denied the allegations, stating that “I should have never been arrested.”
The congregation showed strong approval of the pastor, leaning on his credibility as their spiritual leader.
“I wasn’t there,” he said. “I can’t talk about her credibility without some of the facts.”
When will Black people stop foolishly following behind these pastors who are more into themselves than anything or anyone else? Creflo Dollar is the pastor who stated that he didn’t want anyone from Eddie Long’s Church who didn’t support (stand behind) Eddie Long following the accusations of several young men who stated Eddie Long molested them. This is truly ignorance and stupidity at it’s fullest.
amen brother, these the 85 percent of the people the 5 percenters were talking about who will follow anyone..
were you there? oh now you the monday morning quaterback. when you people going to wake up and open your eyes and see these people have two different personalities. (dr jekell and mr hyde)but i feel you go ahead and cover for the man. the truth will come to light one day, it alwasy does. i guess you believe they made bishop long a king too huh?
DID HE READ THE GOT d**n POLICE REPORT? I see that Negligent people will support other Negligent people; and such negligence can be found in the pulpit, and other supposed high arenas of influence. Rev. Mosteller should have researched the facts before opening his mouth. But then DUH!! He is a Christian Minister. LOL
First, the police would have still arrested anyone else under the same conditions who were not a well known public figure. WHY? Because Grabbing a 15 year old young woman-child who has b*****s,hips, menstrual periods, and is a self governing teen-woman-by the neck for 5 seconds, then punching, slapping and throwing her to the ground and hitting her with a shoe IS NOT DISCIPLINE. This is not sensationalism, exploitation and gross inaccurate reporting people. THIS IS A FACT- per the police report that takes not only the written and verbal account of CREFLO DOLLAR and his 15 year old daughter who was attacked by him, BUT GET THIS… (drum roll, Tamborines and the Angelic Choir of high reason SINGS for all the dumb Creflo supporters)…… HIS other 19 year old daughter who is a young adult witnessed the entire incident and CONFIRMED ON SCENE THAT EVERYTHING THE 15y SAID WAS THE TRUTH. WHY WOULD HIS DAUGHTERS LIE ON HIM? If he was discipling his daughters and nothing was wrong with how he disciplined his daughters, then he should tell the police and his non thinking CONGREGATION specifically how you DICIPLINED HIS DAUGHTER. He would never do that because then the world would BURN HIS a*s ALIVE. Creflo know he is wrong, but he has become so attached and conditioned by the high ego elevated expectations that comes with being a mega minister, that he and his followers have temporarily lost touch with reality and made a gross error in his judgment by responding to his daughter in this manner. VERY FEW CHILDREN, especially of this age, would go to such lengths of calling the Police on their FATHER who is a well known public figure, over not going to a got d**n party. This child knew to some degree the magnitude of her actions could have, and it therefore had to be serious to where she was courageous enough to do so. This was also not the first time it happened. THIS REVEREND NEEDS TO SIT HIS a*s DOWN AND SHUT UP!! Such a media w***e for the wrong side and reason.
CHECK THIS OUT: “Mosteller said that because of Creflo’s arrest, parents “may be hesitant to discipline the child and the child may be more likely to involve police.”
EXACTLY!!! That is the only sound thing he spoke. That is exactly what should happen. This situation with Creflo is being used to RAISED MANY WITHIN THE BLACK COMMUNITY’S CONSCIOUSNESS about how they discipline their children. However, most will not be hesitant. Only those who CHOKE, SLAP, PUNCH and throw their 15y old daughters down to the ground over walking away and saying they dont want to talk about it, need to take HEED. Its time to EVOLVE. How ironic, that this man as well as others feel he is called by God to raise and up lift people’s consciousness through his life work in and out of the pulpit. However, even in his time of WEAKNESS, he is still doing the same thing– teaching his congregation how to NOT discipline your children. God, I hope the Judge takes the Bible and SMACK him in the forhead; and that wife of his as well for taking up for him. Fame, money, elevated social status, should never be placed before the psychological and physical wellbeing of your daughter. I am going to hold that they are learning this difficult lesson and making some serious changes for the better in this DOLLAR BILL household.
Why do people think that pastors are supposed to be perfect? Not just Creflo, but pastors in general? He is HUMAN! He reacted harshly, but so did she. She blatantly disrespected her father. Did she deserved to be punched (if that actually happened)? No; but she DID deserve to be restrained. What was Creflo supposed to do? Let her walk out of the house at 1:00 a.m. because she wanted to? Then if something had happened to her, everybody would be saying he’s a negligent parent because he let his 15 year old go out after 1:00 a.m. The fact is that people can’t seem to wait for a pastor to negatively make the news – including other Christians (or should I say church-goers). Is there an expiration date on how long he’s supposed to be brow-beaten for this? No. People enjoy it. They don’t give a flying fig about Creflo’s daughter. They just want something to hold over his head for life. So glad that God is not so unforgiving as most people seem to be. I guess nobody on this board has been guilty of anything in other categories in their entire life. Must be great to be perfect!
Claiming that the girl acted disrespectfully based upon what we know or what has been said is SUBJECTIVE and RELATIVE. Based upon the police report and what Creflo stated, the girl was not DISRESPECTFUL, and if he felt that her saying she did not want to talk was, then he is being somewhat an over reactional egotistical tyrant of a dad. She did not deserve that type of treatment. I think most people recognize that Creflo or any minister is NOT PERFECT, however, what is unacceptable is when HE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE IT and proceeds to take the pulpit and place the blame else beyond himself. That says a lot and what is further sad is that some BLACK PEOPLE can not PEEP his dishonesty, because they are blinded by the misguided allure of his position and title.
My concern is this new fad of black women caling the police on black men for little or no reason. I hear black women admit every day to dialing 911 just because they don’t want to be bothered with their baby daddy. I also notice black women screaming he is a stalker just because they want to break up yet don’t want to face their boyfriend.
Of course, young girls get this behavior from watching their mother”s carry on and act crazy.
And unless we were there to witness the incident, there may be no way to tell what really happened.
Interesting that your screen name is Anonymous, because based upon your statement, you should be anonymous. There is no new FAD of black women calling the police on black men. What are you basing this conclusion upon– the Creflo situation? Stay in your lane and stay in alignment with what is being discussed here on this blog. Know what the police report said and the content of the 911 calls. All of which points toward this man being GUILTY… as the sin he preaches upon and about others.
This is what is wrong with kids today, I do not believe that her father was wrong in his discipline, i work in Juvenile Justice and see kids come in everyday disrespectful, fighting and killing each other along with their parents and siblings. There should be more parents like her father, these kids think that they can get away with doing whatever they please and get away with it. If I were to do what she did, I probably would have gotten the h**l beat out of me. There are pastors every where under the spotlight being scrutinized by the media, had he not been so well known he would never have been scruitinized by the media. My concern is when are we going to be able to discipline our kids and not worry about repercusions for doing it. These kids are out of control, and we parents must band together and take control. Concerned Grandmother.
@Lady J, very nice Comment, what the Problem is, the SCHOOL SYSTEM, GOVERNMENT, POLICE DEPARTMENT have gotten in the way of Parents Raising there KIDS!!!
School System, have a No Tolerance **Ledger** of if a KID has a SCratch on them, and the Kid States it was given by a Parent, the School then CONTACT the Authorities,
GOVERNMENT, Local Government level is allowing the Kids to have a Shield of PROTECTION, if the Parents SPANK, Whip, the Kid{s} it is a CRIME, but at the Same time the Government is making a PROFIT off of your KIDS, the GOVERNMENT Is just PIMPING our KIDS,
POLICE DEPARTMENT, is just meeting the NUMBERS for Monthly CHILD ABUSE, with the employement of RESOURCE OFFICERS in the School System,
This is why the Kids have GUNS, Knives, all sort of WEAPONS at the School, because the Kid understand that the Parent will get in more TROUBLE, than the Kid, it is a Shame of how things have so Changed for Parents, in today’s WORLD, and we Now have a BLACK PRESIDENT,
It has all gotten out of CONTROL!!!
Duane, I agree we have been stimatized as a people for so long, they medicate our kids with medicine that the side effects are not known. When our grandparents were in the one classroom do you think they had an illness called ADHD, I believe they did and how do you think they dealt with it then. I am so sick and tired of people making comments that just don’t know how to deal with African American kids. I will never allow a child of mine to disrespect me and then even act like they want to fight with me, we have so many things stacked against us that we must maintain some form of dignity. It is like a melting pot, we must go back to the golden days where a parent had rights. Lady J
I believe both of yall are STUPID. Punching, Slapping and choking a kid is not discipline as you so eloquently put it. If someone slapped, punched and choked you, you would be ready to call the police and press charges. Children are human beings, not slaves- as most parents feel they are, children are not animals. Children need real parents and discipline, that is – parents who talk, teach children that all violence is un-accpetable, take away the most cherished privilege for things done wrong. Do you see anywhere in this statement, that says resorting to any means of violence is necessary to train a child? no, people are so quick to use violence and back it up with the Bible, well. The Bible also says DO NOT TEMPT OR PROVOKE YOUR CHILDREN TO ANGER. But I bet you passed that up.
