A pastor and his wife are in deep trouble with the law after it was recently determined that they might have been stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from their church over a three year period. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but in this case, the wife of the pastor has been arrested in the past for check fraud.
It’s hard to determine at this point if the couple is guilty or innocent, but anything is possible. It also tells you to remember to be careful about who you trust. Everyone who is in the church may not be of the spirit of God. When you give your money to a church, you may want to demand that there be accountability for how your funds are being used.
A pastor and his wife are being accused of stealing nearly half a million bucks from their former church. What’s worse is that they are also being accused of gambling the money away. Charles Gifford was once the pastor at the Bethel Institutional Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Prosecutors allege that he stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from the church to fund gambling trips to the Coushatta Casino in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Adriane Gilford, Pastor Gilford’s wife, has also been charged in the incident. Police are claiming that between 2004 and 2007, the two took money from the church without anyone being aware of their activities.
