In this video, Min. Louis Farrakhan speaks about the dumbing down of America. Farrakhan is controversial, but typically respected by most African Americans. How can a man who is so ostracized get so much respect? It might be because the things he’s saying make sense to millions of black people.
Recently, Farrakhan spoke about President Obama’s support for gay marriage. In the speech, Farrakhan says that the media is mocking President Obama by calling him “the first gay president.” Farrakhan even invokes First Lady Michelle Obama into the conversation by stating that even though he never asked Michelle’s opinion, he’d never received any word that Barack had been “missing from duty.” Always thought-provoking, Louis Farrakhan is an institution in black American history.

Minister Farrakhan and the nation has done more for black communities then some churches put together. True he has made some mistakes over the years in dealing with his brother Malcolm X and nobody but him and God know his heart. Instead of wondering what Farrakhan has done with all the money he has collected over the years, what have you done with the few dollars in your pocket? What are you doing in your community? It takes one to reach one! I am a christian and consider Minister Farrakhan a man of God that is doing what God has called him to do. All he has ever attemtpted to do and continue to do is help african americans realize their value and significance in the earth, and to live a righteous life and God is okay with that. How long are we going to continue to be divided as a black people of minor issues. This video is from 1997, fast forward to 2012 and listen to the wisdom he conitues to share to humanity as a whole now not just blacks but all people.

We really should get away from the JOB (Just Over Broke) mentality. Do for self has always been the mantra of the Nation of Islam (N.O.I) Malcolm Shabazz and Farrakhan, not jobs. Creating jobs for ourselves is our ticket to freedom from being controlled by everyone else. How do you think people form third world and under privileged countries come over here and build thriving communities for themselves? They start businesses that we patronize and DO FOR SELF.
So let’s stop complaining about what President Obama, or Farrakhan has done for us lately, and ask ourselves, what have we done for ourselves lately. Start an initiative in your community, establish a business in your community and support it; we support everybody else but ourselves, hint, hint.

where are u living, that’s not the plan for the u.s.a to assist black folks with business. their plan is to keep black folks down. every groups other than original black folks are afforded the opportunity to start a business. they use our tax money to help them start their businesses. i looked into starting a business and so did my son it was so difficult, so much red tape, and so many loops that it was near impossible. this countries plan is not for a black man/women to prosper here.

The problem is you are going right back to the hand out mentality. Do for self does not mean relying on the establishment to “give you a loan.” Start small and think big. Do you have family? Get together and pool your monies to get started. I was born in the Bronx and raised in Harlem USA. I taught my children to go after what they want to do, full steam ahead, don’t wait for anyone to “ALLOW” you to do anything. God gave you the same abilities He gave everyone else. If the struggle is harder, the reward will be greater.
My oldest daughter is a self taught Master Braider who developed the first of its kind online braid magazine http://www.theguaranteed24.com with family support, no begging for loans from people who may, or may not want to see us succeed, I don’t know because we didn’t ask.
My son, who made a mistake and spent five years in Federal prison, got out turned his life around worked hard and walked through all legally opened doors. He is now a Master Mechanic and a supervisor with the NYC Transit authority.
My youngest son suffered with depression which made itself known when he was a Sophomore in college, went on to earn two degrees; one from Pace University, a BS in business administration, and another from the International Academy of Technology and Design a BAA in music.
I do not say this to brag, but to impress upon you that no one has the ability to stop your success but you. You may have to take detours, climb over some debris, and go around some b—s–t but it only makes you stronger.
There is a saying that when you decide to take on a task you take care of all the things you can do and you will find that the can’t do’s will diminish when you get to them.
Everybody who opens up a store do not get their startup money from the bank. Look at the average corner bodaga, they saved their money by living together and pooling resources. If you want to make an excuse for yourself than you can make yourself believe that they were given the money, but some of us know better. what is said is true, i’m not interested in doing hair, that’s for your daughter, okay, your son is very fortunate to get out of jail and become a master in constructions. most black guys getting out of jail would be lucking just getting a job let alone receiving a master in anything. my son also is licensed in construction and i know for a fact YOU NEED money and contacts to START a licensed construction business. he’s trying now…. for your other son i wish him well. i personally know a women, came to u.s about 3 years ago, she’s not black, she is receiving money from our govt to start a restaurant. my tax money and if you are working yours too. you and your kids are very lucky and possibly smart to start their businesses without loans. maybe you have the money from family and friends but that’s not the case for most of us. one final remark: how come other groups can borrow money from our govt and when a black wants the same opportunity, we are begging for handouts, those handouts are ours to start with, why can’t we use them from our govt when WE want to start a business when we need them. like i said it’s not in this countries plan for a black man to succeed, some yes, but most no, there’s the red tape and loops holes, i mentioned. keep on dreaming that we are equal in this country and that we can start these business by by borrowing from relatives, you sound like mitt, you know mitt has the money and his family does too. most of us are not a mitt. hahahha…..no need to respond back, this is my opinion.

Actually, if you look at the amount of businesses and schools that people in the Nation own — not the leadership, but the membership, then you really can not make the claim that you make. I am Christian, however, I know a number of Muslims who come out of the Nation nationally, and they are as a group, doing much better economically than most in our community. The idea is that you take the knowledge that he shares and utilize it to move forward. What you don’t need you don’t use. You never leave this brother, however, without at least reflecting on some critical points raised during his speech. My husband and I have been talking about how America has beed dumbed down for a few years now. We are in a sad state.

Farrakhan was born Louis Eugene Wolcott in The Bronx, New York, the younger of two sons of Sarah Mae Manning (January 16, 1900 – November 18, 1988) and Percival Clark, immigrants from the Caribbean islands.
